Notre-Dame de Capimont and Chapelle Ste Anne

The church and hermitage of Notre-Dame de Capimont stands on the top of the hill between Lamalou-les-Bains and Hérépian. The apse, choir and sacristy of this attractive building date from the Xc, the nave from the XIIIc and the main body of the hermitage from the XVIIc. On the south side of the church is a porch dedicated to St Christophe. The simple interior, lit through the stained glass windows, and the nave with gallery are well-maintained and welcoming. The peaceful setting with plane trees and a covered terrace commands a superb view over the Orb valley.

ND de Capimont

A short walk up the path from the main chapel brings one to the tiny Chapelle Ste Anne. This stands atop a stepped plinth and contains a sculpture of Ste Anne teaching Christ. The statue was restored in 2005 by M. Sciuto of L'Horte who also restored the gleaming white statue of the Virgin on the main chapel roof. The chapel is usually open and a pilgrimage is held on the 15th August each year.
