Notre-Dame de Trédos
This chapel and hermitage is situated high in the hills a few miles south of the village of Riols. The chapel is large, having been renovated and extended early in the XXc. An alternative name for the chapel is N.D des Trésors, "Our Lady of the Treasures". Legend says that a young girl grazing her sheep noticed that they were persistently grazing one spot. She was unable to move them on and, when she told her father, he dug at the spot and found a statue of the Virgin Mary. An open porch on the side of the chapel has an altar and some statues behind a metal grille door. Near the Chapel there is a covered well with a pump handle. Some distance away through the pines is a shrine to the Virgin Mary.
