This is a page about our move to the South of France. So What's France Got That England Hasn't?Most people that we speak to about our move to France express a variety of emotions. "How exciting! I wish I could go. Such a nice country. Pity about the French. So, why are you leaving England?" Let's get this clear. We're moving to France because we love France, the French and the French lifestyle. Outside of Paris, French life is far more relaxed and laid back than in England. Of course the French have their faults. They are xenophobic (like the English), they are bureaucratic (like the English), they genuinely believe that their country/language/culture/cooking is the best in the world (like ...). On the other hand they are friendly, relaxed and approachable (as long as you make the effort to use the language), they are intelligent and not afraid to show it, they have a beautiful country with far less population crush, the weather is (generally) better, their roads are a pleasure to drive on (despite the idiosyncratic French driving habits) and they really do know about food and wine.
